Messages and safety

Message members and organizations, manage your inbox, and stay safe from spam and scams.

Last updated Oct 11, 2026

Private messages let you talk with other members and with clubs, teams and businesses. Every member has their own inbox, and each organization has a shared inbox for its people.

Start a conversation

  • On an ad, choose Message the seller.
  • On a club's, team's or business's page, choose Message.
  • On a member's profile, choose Send a message.

You'll have one conversation with each member or organization. A message can be up to 5,000 characters, with up to 5 pictures. Messages can't be deleted once they're sent.

Your inbox

The message balloon at the top of the page opens the inbox you're working in, with how many conversations are new. In Messages:

  • Hide tidies a conversation away until a new message arrives.
  • Mute stops its emails; messages still arrive.
  • Block stops someone's messages reaching you.
  • Report sends the conversation to our administrators.
  • Emails (On or Off) chooses whether that inbox emails you about new messages.

Stay safe

  • Airsoft Canada staff will never ask for your password or payment details in a message. Real staff messages carry an Airsoft Canada staff badge that nobody else can get.
  • Look closely at links. Addresses made to look like ours (such as airsoftcanada-login.com) are fake.
  • Keep deals in your conversation on the site, so there's a record if something goes wrong.

Common questions

›Why can't I send a message?

You need to be signed in, with your email address confirmed. Accounts less than a week old can start 3 new conversations a day, and their messages with links may be checked by an administrator before they're delivered.

›Who sees my message to a club or business?

Its Owners, Managers and Staff. Each reply shows the organization's name and which of its people wrote it. Your conversation with a club is separate from one with any of its people personally.

›Can a club or business message me first?

No. Organizations answer the messages they're sent; they can't start conversations.

›Will someone know I blocked them?

No. Their messages look sent to them, but never reach you. They can still see your profile.

›What's the difference between mute and block?

Mute only stops the emails: messages still arrive in your inbox. Block stops their messages reaching you at all.

›Can I delete a message?

No. Messages stay as they were sent, so there's always an honest record of a conversation.

›Someone sent me a suspicious link or asked for my password.

Don't open the link or reply with anything private. Choose Report on the conversation and pick Scam or Spam. The other person isn't told, and administrators look at every report.

›Who can read my messages?

Only the people in the conversation (for an organization, its Owners, Managers and Staff). Administrators read a conversation only when it's reported.

›Can I turn off the emails?

Yes: switch Emails to Off for an inbox, or mute one conversation.
