Would you say the EMP1 Shorties or the Regular EMP1s are more consistent? I bought a couple of the shorty ones and I haven't ran into any issues, is there any things you would recommend I look out for and know in terms of maintenance for them, or is it pretty much the exact same as a regular EPM1 in a smaller form factor?
@oxairtech
I haven't had too much personal experience with either the EPM1 shorties or the regular EPMs, but from the players on the field I see fewer problems with both compared to the 240rounders. Really just depends on the gun and the factory parts. Airsoft guns and parts have lots of tolerance inconsistencies, just the nature of the beast, and after all they are just toys, so the same stock combination, may not produce the same results. One of our local player bought a schwack of regular EPMs and could only half load them. Fully loaded and they just squirted out the barrel, yet in a different stock gun, same make and model, no issue. As for maintenance on the mags themselves. Yes they should be taken apart and cleaned, especially if your a "mag dropper", I've cleaned sand, sticks, leaves, all sorts of debris out of the feed path that will impact feeding. They can be pain to disassemble and re-assemble, especially getting the spring back in, but when you get it apart I use Qtips and silcione oile to make sure everything is wiped down and clean and then dry Qtips and Blue Shop Towel to make sure it's nice and dry before re-assembly. DO NOT LUBE THEM!!! Oiled BB's don't hop very well. You can find replacement springs for some models of mags, but very rarely should you have to do that. I have some 20 year old G&P midcaps still working.

Personally, I like to run .3's at heaviest and .28's at the lightest. I don't go for anything super crazy long range, just to ensure I'm actually hitting my shots before making myself known to everyone else. When I resell BB's on the field though, .32's seem to always be the best seller. People like knowing they're getting the most range out of their BB's, and it really helps knowing what kind of internals or hop up you have so you aren't wasting money on extra weight.

@oxairtech
Nice site! You do some great work. Im intrigued about the action air, is it a league?
@F86custom
Thank you for the kind words. Action Air is a sport! A person, party, iPSC hosts an event, shooters register and compete following the rule book. The sport is huge in Hong Kong and the Phillipines, its run in the UK and is really starting to take a hold here in Canada. https://www.ipsc.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/IPSC-Action-Air-Handgun-Competition-Rules-Jan-2024-Edition-Final-27-Dec-2023.pdf We are shooting a match this morning at F-86 today too.

I'm a big fan of the VFC Avalons and Sabers. Great quality externals and make great foundations for my custom performance builds. What happened to the G&P, I'm sure it's fixable if you want to get it back up and running.
@oxairtech
@Tayul If you don't have a local tech, I'm happy to look at for you and at least diagnose and quote what it take to get it back up and running like new, or better. Have to be shipped back and forth, but not a big deal, I do that lots. But typically issues are super insurmountable and be resolved without too much money or effort. I do love resurrecting older stuff like that. Fire me a message from my site and we can chat about what might work for you. https://oxairtech.ca/contact/

I feel like that's a natural progression of most airsofters in Canada. "I bet I can get this cheaper from the US". I've heard a lot of success stories, and a lot of failures too that result in loss. We have some great importers here that can usually get whatever you want, CQC Tactical or Andy's Airsoft have both brought things in for me. A bit of wait, maybe a small premium, but it always arrives and I don't have to deal with CBSA. To each their own. I would like to hear more first hand stories either way.
@F86custom
I just received my order of pistols today. Total of 4 hours in customs. 2nd box with rifles is currently held for futher inspection as I type. Tokyo Marui Xtreme full auto, Gold Matches, 4.3's, EMG Stacatto's and a ton of mags and Dr.Black slides. Just breezed through. On the business side there are systems i'm setup in like CARM and my business number is tied to the shipping company. As a player its way harder and my best recommendation is UPS express. (I don't think many Hong Kong retailers are shipping EMS anymore because of shipping issues).

Mostly because forums are a true record of knowledge. Trying to search for something specific on a Discord or reddit is such a pain in the ass, and I find forums to be far more community-driven. God, it's good to be back.
@Desmodus
How do we generate more traffic to this site? It's dangerously dead here with only a handful of posters really contributing...

I am not too worried for the time being. Yes, more real steel is being banned by the day, but we've come a long way since the clear lower receiver days. The Airsoft canada community is not afraid to voice our opinions on the matter. I don't expect we'll end up like Australia.
@Helmsmith
I was recently told (by a well-informed friend) that a turning point in the struggle to keep airsoft legal, was that banning it would have severe repercussions for the film industry in Canada. Apparently, they are using less & less real firearms with blanks, & more airsoft guns & then adding sound & muzzle flash by cgi. Making things more difficult for the film industry in Canada would have far-reaching cultural & financial impacts on our economy. That is something the politicians finally understood, & they backed-down on the ban...
Feel like I'm a bit of an Early adopter for sure, but looking forward to what thie could be potentially! Airsoft Canada for a time was what I thought to be the 'center' of the Canadian Airsoft experience, a place where we could all congragate to discuss this hobby of ours. I'd very much like to see this new and improved version gather the same level of use as found elsewhere! I feel that since the OG ASC fell out of favor it almost feels like Airsoft Communities became fractured, Isolated in their own little discord worlds and Reddit pages. This definitely has the potential to be a return to form! As for me, I've been an Airsofter since 2010, For most of my time playing it's been mostly centered around using bolt guns. That being said, I've had and used a vast ammount of airsoft replicas in that timeframe from many different manufactures, Still enjoy seeing what's coming even though events like Shot Show are definitely not what they used to be. That level of hype, and forward publicity having faded when institutions like Instagram, Facebook and Youtube started suppressing these creators making it more difficult to make this sport mainstream. Anyway, I'm hopeful that this website gets the attention it should. Grows to the level it used to be and that an interwoven community can be created.
Agreed, OG ASC was awesome. I was sad to see it deteriorate over the years. You could really find some useful tips in the gun tech and replica discussion forums... OG ASC really peaked in 2010. I hope this ASC reborn does get there eventually :)
