A lot of arguments can be made but one inescapable one exists.
This is a forum for the airsoft community BY the airsoft community. That means immunization from being zucked because gun looks evilbadscary, and it means we will never fall victim to the algorithm of content moderation.
Tell your friends. Get over here.

Good point on the "zuckery". I think I'll create a couple media sharing channels for us to share Facebook Pages, Instagram accounts, YouTube channels that are Airsoft related.

I can't wait for 10 years down the line when some random interweb user is scrolling these forms and they may see posts of mine that could lead them to answer for a question they have or for pure nostalgia to come and look back.

[/quote] This is the biggest reason for me right here. I've been saved countless times by some user who 10 years ago was kind enough to post their solution on a niche forum. Reddit almost seemed like a good alternative but as we've seen from their API debacle, when the community isn't in control of their forum bad things can happen.

New to airsoft and somewhat of an old guy but I remember always cruising bass guitar, punk rock and motorcycle forums back in the day and it felt like more of a community to me than the modern social media platforms.

the old ASC was a goldmine for great information, forums are simply better for searching and storing info. I do wonder if theres a way to import all the old top threads from ASC, shame to lose all that information

Should be easy to export and dump it all here.
@JanusFeb 4, 2026, 1:49 p.m. PST
@gmds Should be but it's impossible to get a hold of the owners; I probably should have content dumped it months ago. It's almost not a bad thing, though. Some of the information is outdated or incorrect and going through it all to verify what is still relevant and accurate would have been months of work. Having to build the information from scratch is almost better. What we should consider is building a tech wiki.
@F86customFeb 4, 2026, 6:21 p.m. PST
@janus With how much the game and technology changes and all the new products available, I agree, starting from scratch would be more ideal and less confusing for people making their way on here. There are alot more Army Armament pistols vs the WE Pistols of the past, stuff has definitely changed as an example.

@janus I will see what I can do about contacting the OG ASC owners. There was definitely lots of incorrect and outdated info there, but I think there's value in safeguarding it (history record of Airsoft in Canada). The pages could be flagged as "legacy ASC content" or something and users would be aware. Heck, it might even bring additional people interested in looking back at the good ol' days of ASC forums. But I love the idea of an up to date tech wiki! I will check it out and contribute as best I can with the little tech knowledge that I have :)

Nice to have a platform dedicated to airsoft and not tied something as large as Reddit all for it
