Hello all,
My first rifle I acquired is a G&P M4A1 RIS. Sadly this weapon had a gearbox malfunction midway through the 2025 outdoor season and since been left as a wall hanger.
My newly acquired rifle is a VFC Avalon VR16 Saber CQB. I have yet to field this rifle but I am looking forward to using it.
In this upcoming summer 2026 season I aim to add an AK platform to my collection, along with either a PCC or SMG. Leave your thoughts down below what kind of PCC or SMG variants I should look into. preferably AEG for the time being.
Thank you for coming to check out my first post,
Tayul

@oxairtechJan 31, 2026, 5:42 a.m. PSTI'm a big fan of the VFC Avalons and Sabers. Great quality externals and make great foundations for my custom performance builds. What happened to the G&P, I'm sure it's fixable if you want to get it back up and running.

@TayulJan 31, 2026, 9:11 a.m. PST@oxairtech I would love to fix the G&P not only because it's my first airsoft rifle but because everyone at my field enjoyed seeing an older model being used and would tell me stories about the brand. I am not knowledgeable enough to try and open or give it an actual diagnosis. I have watched many disassembly's and tech videos on AEGs but it is intimidating. The beginning issues started shortly after acquiring the airsoft gun. When I would use it on semi the trigger would bind up (hard to pull/hit a "wall") after a mid cap mag or so. I would then switch to full-auto and give it a burst then back to semi and it would be good for a mag or two. After using it about 4 times for a few hours at my local field the rifle started to not feed and the trigger wouldn't work (completely dead, could pull all the way through) on semi or full-auto. I will also mention that the selector switch is not as "crispy" as i thought it should be, it would seem to float between semi and full-auto but still fire. I did buy the rifle second hand from Cdn_Citizen on Reddit, it was a wall hanger/collector piece. I did lots of research for what gun to buy next and then I found the Avalon weapon series. I also saw that the VFC DX series is also of good quality. After being patient scrolling some ads it just so happened that someone listed an Avalon for sale on the airsoftmarketcanada Reddit and I jumped on it. It has been reliable thus far, although I have just been using it at home while waiting until the new season starts in May.
@oxairtechJan 31, 2026, 9:21 a.m. PST@Tayul If you don't have a local tech, I'm happy to look at for you and at least diagnose and quote what it take to get it back up and running like new, or better. Have to be shipped back and forth, but not a big deal, I do that lots. But typically issues are super insurmountable and be resolved without too much money or effort. I do love resurrecting older stuff like that. Fire me a message from my site and we can chat about what might work for you. https://oxairtech.ca/contact/
