I originally bought a Titan lithium ion battery and the titan smart charger because I was apprehensive about lipos. After my gun wasn't working properly during my first game, I got a lipo and a Skyrc b6ac v2 charger that works slick. I charge in a lipo bag in a metal ammo can.
*has anyone had any catastrophes when charging?

Those B6 chargers seem to be one of the better options for sure. I've never had an issue charging, but have had a few batteries swell up after a few years. So of the the battery recycle shed at the dump for those and replaced them. I don't mind the Li Ion batteries. I keep a few around and run them in certain guns and they work well. Definitely not as snappy as a Lipo, but if your concerned about volatility, it's a safe way to go.

I always recommend to the new players getting AEG's to get a solid $50-$60 balance charger, I had the V6 style quick chargers at one point and I hate them with a passion, I treat my dozens of batteries like little bombs I keep in the basement...they gotta be treated with more love and care than any of your other gear. I've only seen two batteries blow up in people's guns before, and it's really, really avoidable. Find a nice balance charger that individually detects and charges your batteries cells, they also offer the "loop" connection (can't remember the exact term) but it allows your battery to fully connect to the charger (with the deans connector and the other one) so it doesn't store any excess energy, causing puffing or swelling. My batteries always live between 4v and 4.20v, whether it's a 7 or 11.

Also, in terms of LiPo bags, you can never be too safe. I use them for all my airsoft electronics, especially in the summer when the sun's beating down on your gear. My batteries are quite literally in a LiPo bag, in another LiPo bag, with other LiPo bags all sealed up in one bigger LiPo bag. I take safety very seriously 🤣

Turnigy accucel 6, but it's a discontinued product at this point. Been using it for everything that has a rechargeable battery the past 16 years or so. When it dies, I will probably get the Titan Lithium Charger for (airsoft only) and a separate one for my RC toys.

I always balance charge and store my LiPos in a fireproof bag inside a metal box. Never had any swelling or issues.
