Drone usage in Airsoft

What are the opinions here on drone use for games in airsoft? Have you encountered them in any games you've played? How were they utilized? How were they countered (legally)? What could be improved in their implementation and can a standard ruleset be applied?

I've seen them used purely in an ISTAR/Recce context, for gathering information on the other teams movement OR as a type of loitering munition delivery system for vehicles using small bags of chalk. Overall, I think they add a really cool element to the game if it suits the theme. However, I find thermal drones are a bit over-powered as there is very little people can do to counter that, and this is me speaking from the perspective of someone whose team had access to said thermal drone.

Drone usage at the field should be guided by the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs). Flying too close to people or dropping things from drones is prohibited by the CARs. Drone usage should be prohibited to recon roles only from a vertical height of 30+ meters. Counterdrone measures should also take into account that interfering with aircraft in flight is a violation of CARs. Anything that could possibly cause the drone to crash or otherwise lose control would be out of the picture. The safest rule would be just not to allow them to avoid all the back and forth. However I understand they add an element to gameplay that is realistic to modern combat and interesting for players so I understand the impetus to want them on fields.
